Leadership in operations at Water Rescue

To ensure coordinated work during watch duty and operations, Water Rescue works in teams of various sizes with corresponding leaders. Water Rescue trains these leaders itself through "Leadership in Operations" (FiE) courses. The task of the respective leaders is the coordinated execution of operations and the protection of rescue personnel.


General Tactical Leadership in Water Rescue Service - FiE I

This course provides basic training for leading small units of up to three persons.

- Minimum age 16 years
- Water rescuer qualification

Watch Leader - Group Leader - FiE II

This course provides basic training for leading a watch station and managing teams during larger incidents.

SEG Leader Water Rescue Service - FiE III

This course provides basic training for leading rapid response groups in the water rescue service and cooperation with other aid organisations.

Entry Requirements

- Minimum age 21 years
- Water rescuer qualification
- FiE II completed
- At least 3 years operational experience in a rapid response group

- FiE III completed
- At least 3 years experience as SEG leader
